Somebody Got Uncomfortable

In my recent blog, “Get Uncomfortable to Get Creative,” I challenged readers to spice up their business relationships in 2013 and I offered a concept to replace the usual (boring) networking venues with less traditional options unique to their own interests and personality.

With over a dozen comments on the blog, I think we struck a cord.

My own “aha,” was to combine my skill as a pilot and love for flying into a unique networking venue.

I’m excited to report that my first victim (I mean networking partner) took me up on my offer early this week.

Jane Lovas is the author of Put Your Big Girl Panties On And Kick Your Fears in the Ass!  She works with Women CEOs, Partners, Principals and Executives who are looking for Clarity, Focus and Release.

Jane and I have been exploring ways to collaborate and she immediately jumped on the opportunity when she heard about “Taussig Air.”

We met at Manassas airport – flew to Frederick, MD – picked up the rental car – stopped for dinner (got the conversation going) and then drove back to Manassas, which provided over an hour more of networking time.

I will keep this blog open to encourage those who have ventured out (with me or on their own) to share their experience in the comment section below.

Let’s keep the ball rolling and get creative in 2013!

    Randy,

    How am I going to top this? I know, I know it’s not a competition! Still this was such a fantastic way to have quality business relationship building time together that I’m going to have to do some real thinking to come up with such a unique experience.

    One of the keys to building relationships is to share who you are. It’s so much easier to build relationships with someone you’re able to connect with and also have fun with.

    I’m thinking about some of the activities I enjoy doing and how they might be able be used to develop quality business relationships which will then be built on something more than the “need” to do business.

    Of course in person or virtual coffees or lunch are still going to one of the first and an ongoing way to connect, but when you’re ready for something that provides more time, flying time is the template for a new way to build relationships.
